Aphthous Stomatitis

Aphthous stomatitis is one of the annoying and common mouth diseases that appears as a small white stain in the mouth mucus which is not painful if it is not touched. However, it is very painful when it encounters the teeth or sour food.

The reasons of Aphthous Stomatitis

Since the aphthous stomatitis does not have a distinct etiology, no definite and exact treatment has been defined for it. Of course, some papers have considered the aphthous stomatitis to be originating from viruses. Also, in some cases, factors such as genetic inheritance, food allergies (especially walnut and hot condiments), stress, decrease in immunity level of body and autoimmune.

Stomatitis treatment:

Concerning treatment, stomatitis lasts for a period of 10 days after which it disappears and there is no special treatment for it. It is better to use the disinfecting and antibacterial mouthwash to remove the frequent or larger stomatitis. If the stomatitis prevents the patients from eating food, especially among the children, it is possible to use oral anesthetic gel. Also, some different herbal treatments have been proposed such as putting the pomegranate paste or the oil of the tea tree on the wound where perhaps one of the most documented of which is the use of the plant extract “Persian Golnar” in treating the minor stomatitis.
